About Me

My name is Haiqi Zhang. I come from Sichuan, China. I had two-year college study in China, but now I study in Texas Wesleyan University. Before I went to college, I planned to get a master degree of accounting and find a job in a big city near my hometown. However, after I went to college, I felt that I did not enjoy the college life and what I was learning. In fact, I did not know what I really wanted at that time, and it was my mom that chose the major for me. I became confused. I started to think whether I was doing what I really wanted. I tried to figure out what I was really interested. I found that I did not really like the major and the study environment in China, so I decided to transfer to the US. I told my mom my decision. She considered it very carefully, and then we planned to apply schools together. Now I am in Texas Wesleyan University and my major is computer science. I really appreciate what my mom did for me. She always respects my choice. I study easily and enjoy the life here, although there are still challenges sometimes. I find what I am really interested in and know what I really want, so I have a specific goal and work hard here.

I will become an agile computer scientist with a vision to solve local or global problems and provide ethical, sustainable, secure, and legal solutions to complex problems. After I graduate, I will first work for a company and learn new things, because sometimes what we learn is different from what we do in real practice. When I accumulate enough experience, I will have my own software development company. I like living a relaxing and free life, so I will travel all around the world during my free time. I want to broaden my horizon and do things that I never do.
