Narrative Arguments
September 11th, 2017
This project required me to remember an event in my life that changed me in a significant way. I was supposed to write a narrative argument, a non-narrative argument, and a response to the instructor in which I described the differences. From this project, I learned how to write narrative arguments and non-narrative arguments. I also found the differences between them. In different circumstances, I should use different kinds of arguments.
Commentaries
September 29th, 2017
This project asked me to imagine I had been asked to write a weekly column for the campus newspaper. I was required to make a list of ten topics that I would be personally interested in writing about. Then I needed to choose one of those topics and write a commentary on this subject. From this project, I learned how to write commentaries and how to think about things in a critical way.
Refutation
October 16th, 2017
This project asked us to find an argument that we agree with. Then turn the tables and write a one-page rebuttal or counterargument to that argument. Finally explain how I might counter the opposition’s argument now that I have seen the argument from the other side. From this project, I learned how to write refutations and how to make my arguments more persuasive. When I discuss something, I should see it from different angles. In this way, I can find whether there is anything that I have not considered before and make my arguments better.
Proposals
October 23rd, 2017
This project asked us to find a problem on campus or in our community. Then we were required to write a proposal in which I explain the problem and offer solutions. From this project, I learned how to write proposals, how to analyze problems, how to come up with solutions, and how to make my audience think my proposals are feasible.
